Astrobiome® is eagerly anticipating the return of our scientific experiment from the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the SpaceX CRS-33, following months of exposure to unique space conditions, including microgravity and cosmic radiation.
The SpX-33 commercial cargo mission, carrying Astrobiome®’s critical microbiome samples, is set to splash down off the coast of California on February 27, 2026. Our team will be on-site in California for the splashdown and in Houston at NASA's Johnson Space Center for sample retrieval and handover. Post-flight analyses will then commence in Luxembourg and Tokyo.
This groundbreaking mission is a realization of Mars City Design visions and was developed through a collaboration between Astrobiome Space & Innovation Labo Tokyo with support from the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) and the European Space Agency (ESA), and hosted by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).
"Astrobiome® is thrilled to advance our understanding of microbiomes in extreme environments, enhancing human health, longevity, resilience, and food security for sustainable exploration on the Moon, Mars, and beyond"
— Vera Mulyani, CEO of Astrobiome, Inc.
